| After 48 hours as one of the biggest targets in the world, Pittsburgh emerged Saturday morning looking no worse than it does after a Steelers Super Bowl victory.
The masses didn't storm the gates. Terrorists didn't strike. The city didn't burn. Police arrested 193 people during protests associated with the Group of 20 economic summit. A few minor fires were reported. After the Steelers' Super Bowl victory in February, 120 were arrested and 134 fires were set. At the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York, 1,700 were arrested.

| really super depressed about how my inability to take tests has directly ruined at least half of my clerkship grades. I used to be ok about taking tests in college. what the hell happened? after 3 years of med school, I still haven't figured out how to study for or take these exams apparently. this really seriously sucks. | | |
| Done forever with clerkships, shelf exams (if I passed that pos this morning), and 3/5ths of med school. I'm going to miss my class. It feels weird not to be moving on to a new rotation on Monday like mostly everyone else. On the upside, there are a good number of people taking a year off...rumor has it up to 1/5th of the class. Still praying for funding, though
In other news...bye, Scuds, good luck in LA. We'll always remember those great kick saves you made to help us win our 3rd cup! Now what are the Pens going to about their depleted defense...?

| Dorky medical quizzes returns! For now...
Today's questions are a doubleheaded measure of dorkiness: 1. Name that character 2. Name that medical condition
difficulty level: MS-II
I guess med students don't read my xanga anymore...guess there's no point in posting fun medical quizzes anymore . anyway, for anyone who's interested in the answer, we have decided that Sabertooth has clubbing and therefore some sort of chronic hypoxia. or maybe TB from his travels in Africa. or lung cancer from frequenting bars for over 100 years. the picture on the left clearly shows clubbed fingers. the picture on the right shows loss of the angle between the nailbed and the fold, increased convexity of the nail fold, though the nail bed doesn't look particularly soft...oh well.
